    Default Sandemar

Iīm trying something for me new. I donīt know much about landscape photography and would like all pointers and help. Took this two summers ago just outside Stockholm, Sweden. Sandemar is a great bird location, and this is taken from the bird tower.

Hi Gregor- This image has a lot of potential. Love the light and the pastoral, tranquil feel. I had a go at the image and here is the result. I straightened the horizon (a must for landscapes IMO) and cropped top and bottom for a pano aspect ratio. I didn't feel there was enough interest in those parts of the image to retain them. I cropped more from the left than the right because I didn't want the little island to be in the middle of the image. Also, lightened the FG right with the dodge tool in Photoshop, and removed the badly burned sun, top left.

Gregor, my hat is off to you for trying something new. I am also challenged by landscape photography! John has made some very good observations and corrections and his repost looks good to me. I would like to see more blue in the sky.

Hi Gregor....The repost by john looks good to me for this image. When just starting out in landscape photography you need to try to remember to include some point of foreground interest especially when using a wide angle lense at 16mm. Look around the scene and try to find something interesting to include as foreground . You can bring that wide angle lense really close ( 12 inches) to the foreground object and create near far perspective. Also with landscapes, light is really important. Shooting within an hour of sunset / sunrise will add lots of texture and detail to your work. Hope to see more of your work here on the forum!
