Thanks to Miles Davis for the title.
My last Osprey photo of the season.
The chicks will fledge in the next week, I won't be there.
We have a love/hate relationship. I love these birds, they hate me!
They start squawking when I am a quarter mile away walking up the road to the bank of the river to the nest!
The BG is not sky but far away hills in morning light.

Lovley capture and the BG is very nice - is there a magnata cast to the whole image?

    Hi Dan,
You saved the best for last!
The Bg is wonderful as is the wing position.
I see a hint of a magenta cast as well-easily fixed in color balance.
If I were to be nit picky I could say I would have liked a better HA but still lovely as is.
    Well done,
    Gail

Sharp as a tack. Detail in the face and feathers really jumps out. Great way to finish the series.

I like the BG too - did you soften that a bit, or is that straight out of camera?

You absolutely nailed this, Dan. Fantastic pose, sharpness, exposure and bg.
Is the bg this blue or does it have a cast? If anything, I'd move the bird further up in the frame just a tad bit.
You've made the most of this season and it's been a great series. I know if I had this opportunity, they'd hate me too :)

Sweet! Best for last, indeed. Great wing position, nice light and killer BG.

I'm kind of blue that this series is ending, have totally enjoyed it, Dan. As I look at it, I do think that Moving the bird up a bit in the frame would strengthen the composition. I'd also dodge the bird's chin and eye ever so slightly. Again, thanks for sharing these beautiful photographs.

Man, what an awesome, dynamic pose. Fantastic one to end on. I like Grace's suggestions a lot, would love to see a repost incorporating them, as well as a correction of the color cast.

Thanks for the comments, here is the original, I really can't move the bird up,
I have no room and I did remove the piling landing which I should have noted.
As you can see, this was a big crop which held up well for iso 1600 I think.
I only used NR on the BG, but about 3 rounds worth.
I did not change the color balance or saturate that much, I just lowered the exposure and the
    BG color came out.
I shoot in neutral, the Raw images don't look like much.
I do get a magenta caste, I will look at my WB settings, I use auto WB but tweaked the auto color pallette because
the D800 has a green caste, so I maybe over compensated in my settings.
Don, I have no portfolio, just a lot of photos on my computer.
I only post photos here, bore my family and friends and print a few and put in a drawer!
    Here is the RAW file.

Here is a very quick repost with the WB changed from auto to auto2, whatever that is?

Dan, wonderful image. Love the wing angle. Amazed about the image quality given the size of the crop.
