I had a fun time creating the chop symbol for this theme. I finally decided on a dragon since I was born in the Year of the Dragon. Not sure if this is appropriate but then again I'm not a real Japanese artist!

On the main image I used fractalius, topaz 5 reverse negative, and color change (2x) from PS.

I like the fract work, Nancy! It looks alot like brush strokes! Your bird is smack-dab in the middle, which doesn't work too well. Placing the bird off to the right would be better and then adding some foliage strokes on the left side of the piece and in the upper left would be a stronger comp.

Good work on the chop! The color is pretty good, maybe a little more reddish would be better. As for the placement of the chop, to balance the composition, I think the upper left area of the piece would be better. As posted, your image is empty in that area and the chop would fill that void nicely. In my repost, I did a quick clone/move of the chop. If you had more foliage in the void area, your chop would work in many placements. Where ever you decide to put it, place the chop farther away from the frame edge than you have here. Nice work!

Nancy, nice artwork! I like your chop The fractalius does look like brush strokes and I like the reverse negative - I've never tried it before but I certainly will after seeing your results.

Thank you Dan for the detailed feedback. My inclination was to place the chop symbol like a name signature, in some corner. But it seems like it is meant to be part of the composition. Thank you, Cheryl and Bill.

Nancy, I like the image...a lot!...but would be tempted to evict that partial twig on the LHS that goes out of the frame, leaving the one that droops down a bit...just a thought. Well done!

Lovely soft colors--like a mild sunrise--pink and yellow. The brush stroke look is excellent. I like the flow of the branch. Agree with Dan about adding some branch and canvas to the left so the bird is not centered. The little bird looks cute.

Hi Nancy, the fract work is perfect for this one. I do prefer the placement Dan chose for the chop in the repost. Very nice work!
