This looks a lot like our Northern Shrikes, Ken. Well exposed with a nice angle and the perch and BG work well. Nice details. It's always nice to find a "new" one.

Very nice balance on this one from the perch to the tail. A great shop, especially for a new one. Do you have a count on birds photographed?

Excellent shot, Ken. I am liking the perch. perfectly exposed and the DOF coverage is very good.

If mine, I'd take a tad off from the top..but not a lot.

Gorgeous bird and excellent exposure. I love the head turn, the bg and the perch.
I'm seeing a bit of noise on the bird - especially the whites on the chest, belly and rump.

Thanks everybody for your comments much appreciated.

    Marina,
Sorry I should have mentioned it is a Shrike

    Laurie,

I do not keep count of the birds I gave seen, but I do keep reasonable images where I have them so I suppose that is much the same thing. There are lots that I have seen but not got anything remotely like viewable

Perfect whites Ken, smooth backdrop and excellent side on profile pose, there is a tiny bit of noise, but you have to look pretty hard to see it...very well done

Very nice shot Ken! The only issue IMO is the noticeable noise on the bird.

I appreciate the comments on the "noise", which I largely think has been caused by the considerable crop around 20% of original.

Can I ask for tips on how to reduce it without noticeably effecting sharpness?

I dont think there is any fool proof way of reducing noise and retail full sharpness...it's a trade off I think sadly...either way still makes this a very acceptable image imo

Great shot with a wonderful BG. Very good IQ. The thorny perch is great for a shrike image. Markus
