Default Trying Hard Not to Fall Into the Fountain...

Another HDR image from the Ottoman Garden section of the Missouri Botanicals...taken while trying very hard not to fall into the fountain while achieving the angle I wanted. Nine images blended and tonemapped in Photomatix, 17-40mm@17mm, f/11. A bit of tweaking with Viveza and NIK ColorEfex. A slight crop (rotation of the image) and a bit of touch-up in one area of the fountain where the splash from an off-camera fountain was a distraction. For what it is worth...I've started using Topaz-Simplify->BuzzSim in a slightly different way, something that many of you may also have discovered. I'll create a new layer, apply the filter, tweak the Saturation and Saturation Boost sliders (primarily...once I start tweaking I can get a little slider happy )...then, once the filter has been applied, change the blend mode on the layer to Color and then tweak the opacity if necessary. It seems to add more than just simple saturation...maybe I'm fooling myself!...but I like the look. Heading down to the St. Louis Basilica this morning...

Must say, that is one heck of a nice place John. I like the smooth even lighting and of course, thats what you are after. Beautiful looking colours and no uneven highlights. Very well done and handled. If only more people would use it like this, well it would be a pleasure.

All the best John, a great balance and some scene. Wonderful place.

    Danny.

I do love the details and clarity you obtained using HDR. I also like that you left the image looking normal, not overly saturated. Very nice work! The only thing I'd change is darkening the bright area along lower border to the right of the fountain. Not a big deal. Thanks for explaining your new way of using Simplify--I will try it soon. Always happy to learn new tricks.

John, beautiful lighting and detail. This must be one heck of a Botanical Gardens! And thanks for the Topaz tip

Beautiful repost and great processing. I especially like the way the fountain looks.
