    Default Herring Gull

I took this from the cliff top at Marsden, South Shields, in north east England. Herring Gulls breed in the locality and can be seen soaring above the cliffs. This one was just above eye level from my vantage point.

Canon 1D mk IV with 400mm f/5.6 lens @ f/8. 1/1600 sec. ISO 400. Manual mode and spot metered.

Excellent image of Gull with beautiful blue sky.Love the pose of gull and details. If mine, would crop some on left and sharpen the bird slightly.

Thanks. Can't agree about the sharpness though, I think any more and it would look oversharpened. Personal taste of course, I've no problem with your comment

You did well exposing your white gull and your flight pose isn't bad. Your horizon needs just a smidge of CW rotation. You could take some off of the left, but another alternative would be to add some space on the top which I feel is a little tight. Looking forward to seeing more of your images.

Thanks Marina. You know, I sat for about five minutes rotating that horizon, moved it then put it back about three times, it sounds like an easy adjustment but it isn't. I guess it sometimes just needs a fresh pair of eyes on it
