An encounter with one of the big beasts

This began as a plain old gator in the blue/grey water. I inverted the image to give it a muddy appearance (masking out the eyes), then used Nik Color Efex Pro to bring back his lovely colors and give him a little more character, and CS5 Ocean Ripples to give the muddy water some texture.

Maureen, that's pretty wicked...it almost looks like a bust of a gator cast in bronze! If it were mine, I might use the saturation brush to make the eyes pop just a bit...a matter of personal taste...I really like the textures of the skin AND the water...I might have left just a little more room at the bottom of the image as well. Nicely done!

Maureen, it looks like a plain old BIG gator! I love the invert effect - it does look like he's cast in bronze. Nice work

Very nice job on this Maureen. The effects work well with this type of image. I might try just a bit more contrast...

It reminds me of leather. I like the creative processing and will have to try that sometime.

Hi Maureen, love the processing and the muddy tones, but that menacing stare is killer! Nice work!
