Default BLACK BEAR CUB OF THE YEAR

Nikon D3s, Nikkor 200-400 @ 400, f5.6, 1/1000, iso 1600, @ 30 meters. PP Luminosity masks for lights and darks to tame harsh light. Removed vegetation to the right of the cub and part of it siblings head in the RL corner. This is one of two Yellowstone cubs spotted near Roosevelt. Most years, the area around Roosevelt has a resident black bear named Rosey. This season, Rosey has two cubs. The little one is eyeing the white pine it is about to climb. C & C appreciated.

Hi John, The original post had a second large name and date in the mid image. I was able to delete the image but did not get rid of the text.

Hi Gary......beautful texture in the fur of this young cub....bg handled well. I am not familiar with your technique for handling harsh light.....could you explain a bit- it certainly appears to have worked nicely! Good work!

Hi Bob, I learned about a luminosity mask with my previos post ( the Yellowstone wolf ]. Google Photoshop luminosity mask. You are isolating either your light or dark areas and applying curves. Thanks for the look.

    Gary
