Uganda proved to very good for "firsts" for me, this one is only found up there and countries at roughly the same latitude.

This was taken in Kidepo National Park, Northern Uganda, 15th June 2012

This bird surely is well camouflaged against that BG. Like the pose and the head turn with that riveting eye! I would consider some off the bottom and a bit more on top to keep him out of the center or, in the alternative, some off the bottom and right. You must have been thrilled to see and photograph this bird!

Magnificent image.Interesting BG. Beautiful bird with nice artistic design.Nice complimenting of BG.
I like the pose, lights and details on bird.
We do have these birds in India called as Painted Spurfowl only thing is that they don't have red color around eyes.
    Regards.

Ken this bird was posing for you. I am sure you wouldn't see this bird often posing like this on a branch. I like the comp, detail and light TFS.

Hi Ken, you sure are fortunate to get around to other countries and see their wildlife. As Marina stated, pretty well camouflaged against the bark of the tree. Good DOF on the fowl, sharp, and you have captured a great pose. I would like to see a bit more room below.

What an interesting bird! Sharp, nice perch and interesting setting.
I really enjoy these photos of birds I will probably never see. TFS.

Thanks everybody, it is always nice to see something new, especially when it sits relatively still with a reasonable BG.

Ken - nicely captured. Must be difficult to spot with that camo.

Very nice! I like the red bill and feet, along with the green bit of vegetation at bottom. The comp looks good as is IMO. The background works very well!
