A nice clean and simple composition. DOF works well too with both b'fly and plant. Saturation looks a bit high on my monitor. I really like the nice details in Monarch.

Great details and I love the background in this. The flowers and Monarch stands off nicely. Agree with Dave, the saturation is just a little high. Monarch's aren't quite that colour. Excellent shooting though.

Hi Stuart. Based on the color patterns on the wings, I think your butterfly is a Queen (Danaus gilippus) rather than a Monarch - in which case, the colors look about right, although the saturation could be toned down a little overall. It looks like the butterfly has had a tough life so far - too bad the wings are so tattered. Otherwise, the light, sharpness, comp, and background all look good! I hope to see more of your macro work!

Stuart.....You might consider cropping to place your subject off center.....Also a vignette might work nicely with this image.....otherwise this was handled very nicely. Good work!
