    Default Antique Flintlock Pistol

A few months back I took a Civil War battlefield trip to Virginia. I love military history with the ACW being a strong interest. As usual I try to combine a bit of photography with it.
I visited a number of museums and it's become a challenge for me to capture nice images under glass when the facility allows it. One has to watch reflections and harsh lighting.
I play around with angles and lighting. I used a mild PB,topaz detail and a texture filter.

Dave, you handled a difficult lighting situation very well...the processing brings out the warmth of the wood, adds a texture and patina that is beautiful on the metal...it would be interesting to see this one angled somewhat; perhaps the barrel pointed down slightly...nicely done. I hope you post more.

Hi Dave, this is a beautiful image and yeoman's job of capturing all the color and detail in these conditions. You have an extraordinary talent for photographing metal and metallic objects, showing the subtle prismatic effects of the surface. Very nice.

You've really handled a difficult situation extremely well. Processing is great and detail is spectacular.

Dave, the detail is very nice. I wish the area under the trigger and gun shadow was the same color as the remaining background but that is a minor nit. Nice work

Beautiful work! I love the processing you did--it seems to bring out the textures of the wood and metal. Great details. Simple. How did you achieve the even background?

Thanks for the comments. The even backround was already there Anita. I only added a bit of texture to it...
