We have had rain almost every day for weeks on end, this day there was a short break so I was out just after dawn hoping to find this barn owl, as I anticipated it was making the most of the dry morning. At first glance some feathers may appear over sharpened but they are not, they are wet.
All C & C welcome.
We'll give you some of our dryness for a bit of rain...we've had the opposite and now things are as dry as I've ever seen here!! Good comp for the small in the frame subject, and I liek the extra vegetation along the bottom. Although the backlighting creates a very neat effect on the wings I'd still prefer a more frontal light angle fro the facea nd body.
Hi Jon, well placed in the frame, and I like the inflight hunting pose. Good to see the light through the raised wings, and I feel you have the sharpness spot on. I agree, leaving the foliage at the bottom balances the image nicely.
Nice comp with the bushes below, and smooth subtle backdrop, I'm amazed you see one in daylight hours ! He/she looks extra short and stocky looking compared to Barn Owls here, juvenile maybe ?
like this Janathan, good details in the bird, like the green edge in the bottom of the frame,I went out last week for some images of this bird, but it did not show,I will keep trying.thanks.
Thanks for the C & C everyone, I am pretty sure this is an adult, visible in daylight for two primary reasons, firstly they have had chicks (which have probably fledged by now) and secondly they fly when its dry and we have had so much rain they have had little alternative. I have revisited this site early morning several times since this was taken on 14th July and I have not been fortunate enough to see any at all. The good news is that shorties are still around so maybe I'll get lucky there.
