After recently seeing a very nice IR post by Bob Miller, I got the urge to play with infrared again. 20D converted to IR by Lifepixel a while back. Adjusted levels in PS then final processing in Nik Silver Efex.

Hi, Dave, nicely composed and processed - it has an African feel to it. I think you could crop a little from the bottom to move the horizon farther from the center but it's lovely the way it is

Hi Dave; interesting image, I like the IR effect; I agree with Cheryl about a crop from the bottom...I might even go a bit further, a crop from the bottom and a crop from the top, to just below the uppermost cloud, making a pano of the image for a sense of space. Nicely done!

Dave, I like the way you designed the image with the nest placement. I did a browser scroll and think I like your crop best. If I were to crop maybe a slice off the bottom but the grasses have such a nice texture and interest. The cloud pattern offers a nice balance to the composition. I still never converted one of my older cameras, maybe someday!

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts. I had played with the crop on this for a bit and didn't want to lose too much of the cloud formation. I also didn't feel comfortable with the base of the nest support too close to the bottom edge of the frame. While I agree the horizon is really close to center I kind of like the balance . The pano may be a possible alternative. Thanks again.
