Default No furtive glances from my secret house finch

    Greetings pals
Here is a shot from not so long ago, a cozy house finch tucking away. I panorama'd the bejesus out of this one and that's about that! Taken with the Canon 7D and 70-300L at 221mm, iso400, 1/800, f5. Will you like this? Maybe? I'd love to hear your thoughts. What was on top? More white. What was on the bottom? A little bit more of the greens. They went on forever. On the right there is nothing and on the left there is more white. Should I add any canvas on the right? Thoughts? Ideas? Taunts? Object lessons? Sing it to me, gentle warbling admirals of the alar!

Hmm! As a matter of possible interest, here is the original...I'd love to have a look at your cropping ideas? Would mean a lot to me. This isn't one of my favorite pictures and yet I'm somehow drawn to it. Not sure why. It's not really anything special. And yet I can't lose it, won't lose it. Who knows why these things happen? More to the biscuit: who cares?? It's as though the "balance" is off and I don't know how to fix it. I haven't the experience in fixing bad balance!!

Wowzie! No takers! Here, I'll write a critique myself:
Well Breakfast, let's face it: this picture offers nothing! Don't get me wrong, I like bloodless and boring pictures as much as the next guy, but this one's too much even for me! Pack up your camera or stick it up your bee-hind, SOMETHING, but please, a ruffled-up house finch at a steep angle with weird annoying greens popping up all willy-nilly? What's the point to it? As art it's mediocre at best and as bird photography it's a pictorial stinkhole! Keep your dayjob; drop dead twice!

Jack,...can't wait to read the autobiography...for now your posts will have to do.
Compositionally, I think the full frame is much better than the OP. I think the
entire perch creates an elegant line in the image that shows much better in the
full frame version. I like the preening behavior too. If the bird was a painted
bunting, you would get a lot more comments and views.....that's just the way
    it is baby :)

Many thanks, Shawn, really and truly, for writing in. I also much prefer the OP and don't really know what got into my brain when I made that crop. Not too bright! Painted buntings seem like mythical creatures to me...
