The American Avocets just arrived a within the last week or two. I got a few to pose for a few photos at a lake nearby this morning. Any suggestions welcome.

Looking good considering the light is coming from the right and illuminating the tail-end more than the front. Some of the whites are wee hot.
The Avocets are my favourite waders but I am yet to get my first image!!
Nice side-lighting (giving some modelling to the bird) , and good detail and composition. well done Trey!!!

Thanks guys for the input. I will post one with a better light angle and a nicer BG later. I did not find it until after I had posted this one. This was my first image of them and I will be back again this weekend to give it another go. I thought that the whites were a little hot, but according to light room everything is good.
Hi Trey,
The whites looks a little hot. With that said, you did well with the low angle, sharpens and DOF. The light coming from behind does not bother me one bit.
While head and breast details are fantastic the white bars and the flanks gone hot.
Except this one I like this image.

the soft light makes this photo very lovely!
