    Default Turkey Vulture Portrait.

From Indian Lake Estates back in April. This beautiful individual was perched on a pier railing. I was able to approach, on foot, to within this full-frame composition of it. I've never had the pleasure of photographing such a tame wild Turkey Vulture...but even then the last few feet needed to be done slowly as for every step forward I took it shuffled away a couple of inches. I was able to close the gap and then spend some quality time with it.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/7.1, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, full-frame. Minor bill clean-up via patch tool.

    Daniel:

Perhaps if you hadn't taken a shower that day, it would have found you more interesting?

The textures and details are a real treat, lots of little areas to explore. Very sharp, well exposed.

I might take a tiny sliver off the top.

    Cheers

Nice TV! What detail! If I ever get that close to one in Ont. I'll take it as a sign that the world is ending...

IQ is excellent, as usual. Your comp works perfectly for this pose with the subtle head turn. The light is gorgeous too.
This is the first time I've heard a TV being called beautiful :)

Hi Dan, incredible feather detail shown, and you got yourself a cool pose. I do like the overall colours in this too.

Great portrait shot of this handsome bird, Daniel. They are tame in Florida.
I heard from paople who deal with raptors, that this bird is the smartest among the raptors and owls they have in captivity.

The closeness and detail of the feathers in the bird make this image.Well captured ,Daniel.
