Hi Dan, great show of the wingspan, sharp, with good DOF. Nicely separated from the BG, and cant help thinking that a traditional landscape comp will work better.

Excellent wingspan, exposure and sharpness, Dan. Love the early morning light and the eye contact here.

Great light on the bird , and the banking pose works well. Might tone down the BG a bit as I find it a tad too bright.

Agree on the traditional comp! Great background and detail. A beautiful raptor this is!

In addition to the previous comments, it’s noteworthy that you preserved the details in the highlights and the shadows.

Dan - nicely captured with good detail and flight position. I agree with Stuart and would have loved to see this as a horizontal with more room to fly into.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
I am reposting for a PP exercise, I took the suggestions (landscape crop, lighten BG) and also processed as a Tiff File
after reading Doug Browns advice in another thread and sharpening only after resizing.
I can see a halo where the de-saturatation did not quite blend in, but that is an easy fix.
I like the sharpening after downsizing and the tiff file PP.
The converted TIFF file on an FX D800 Raw file is 207mb!
I liked the brighter BG better.

Wonderful shot. Love the massive wing span, excellent background, exposed very well, and I like the repost much better.
    Well done.
