Red-browed Finch.

Winter time here, drizzly rain, cold and dull .....so going through a few thousand image files I never got around to looking at or editing, here's one , only a few thousand to go lol

Canon 7D + 500 f4.....500mmm, f4.5, 1/500, ISO500, no flash, from a portable hide at approx 20 feet in shade....crop, noise reduction, just basic editing

Striking little fellow, like the angle of bird and perch in the frame, background.

Might consider a sliver off the top. The back looks slightly sharper than the eye.

Always fun to fine little jewels when going through older images.

What an awesome bird!! Love the glance-back HA, perch, BG. Critical focus seems to be on the shoulder area...for that I'd give another round of sharpening on the face and go less aggressively on the shoulder/back/flanks. I also wish you had pointed your lens down about an inch or so more. Good luck with your catching up on your processing!!
