Great picture, Robert. I like the way it perches, showing the fanned tail, legs and having nice eye contact with us.
The background is compimenting the colours of the bird.
It is a beautiful bird. I tried to get a shot of it in New mexico, but did not work out.

    Robert

Nice pose, tail spread, BG, exposure and sharpness.

I might try a version with the curve pulled down just a bit, it is a bit bright to my eye. You could also consider burning in the perch just a sliver.

    Cheers

i agree with Randy, a tad lower exposure would look nice.
Very nice species to get a good photo of and I like the worn perch.

Hi Robert, love the soft light in this, and I do like the pose with the fanned tail. The plumage shows detail and I like the varied colours on him. Another vote for toning down the perch.

Great image Robert. Love the pose and the complimentary colours of the bird and background. I am going to disagree with Randy and Dan on pulling the exposure down - I think the bird looks good. I do agree with Randy on burning in the perch a little bit though.

Thank you all very much for all the comments. I had toned down the perch some, but I guess it needed a tad more.
Here is repost with perch toned down some more. Let me know how this one looks.
    Thanks again.

Sweet pose with that fanned tail, lovely light and gorgeous bg. Details are superb.
I didn't know these guys responded to audio.
I photographed one in summer last year which made a rare bird alert - definitely not common in Austin.
Are they common in El Paso?

Love it! Looks like a lady in a long skirt :-) I like the tans and browns colour motif here. Nice comp, and the repost works nicely with the darkened perch.
