This fledgling Great Horned Owl was photographed stretching its wings for about 20 minutes before it actually fledged right before my eyes. What a sight it was to witness. Its sibling had fledged the day before, and I was afraid upon arriving that this one would have flown the coop as well. Much to my surprise and excitement, the sibling had returned to the nest for some coaxing and coaching. There was a lot of wind this particular morning. I wish that I had used my 1.4 instead of my 2.0. b/c I ended up sacrificing some speed and a few frames. Hindsight is of course 20/20, but it was a good lesson.
