    Default Pink Toes!

On our Amazon River trip, we took a hike into some higher ground. There we found this pink-toed tarantula on some ferns. I'm not a big fan of spiders, but I love the pink on the tips of his toes!

    Nikon D7000, f16, 1/60, EC -.33, ISO 800, 28-105 @ 105 with SB800 flash, hand held.

PP: cropped, some specular highlights cloned out, levels, sharpening

It gives me shivers to look at it too. How big was it? I think it was very well done. Sharp looking from the front to the back of the spider. The background pattern of the ferns adds a nice contrast.

Thanks Phil and Linda. It was about the size of my hand! You notice these spiders!

Hi Linda. Now that is one hairy spider! Something this size would be pretty hard to ignore once you spotted it. Good comp and nice use of the flash. The sharpest part of the image appears to be the fern fronds in the lower right portion of the image. Maybe all those hairs are playing tricks with my brain, but you might try a little extra selective sharpening around the eyes. Well done!
