    Default Banking Kite

I felt the need to process some older avian images - so went the files from a trip to the Kalahari in February of this year.
This was taken from a hide, looking down. It was difficult to know which ones to photograph, given that there were hundreds of yellow-billed and black kites around the waterhole in a somewhat freakish outbreak of termite spawning that they were coming to feast on.

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s with Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II + 1.4xTC @ 700mm
    f8.0 @ 1/1250 SS @ ISO-2500

    Morkel:

Jack said it well. The detail is outstanding on the bird, nice separation from the BG, well exposed.

    Looks very dry!

A little head turn our way would have helped.

    Cheers

Great pose and neat background. I'm with Randy for a bit better head angle, and I'd remove the highlights on the bill, but terrific IQ and processing.

    Thanks for the feedback, folks.
Will touch up that beak! It's dry there - a semi-desert...though this was taken in the rainy season so there was some greenery.
