I know it's a little tight on the bottom but I still liked the sense of movement and the raised foot here.

I could tell from the thumbnail I would like this one.
The tightness doesn't bother me, it looks fine.
The light is a bit harsh, but I realize you were on a schedule.

Tough light handled very very well. In fact the shadows and the white part of the bg (cloud?) has added a lot of character to this image somehow.
Raised foot is a cool bonus. Comp is very good, just wish for a bit more room below (but you knew that).
    Sharpness is excellent too.

    Hi Rachel

Nice image and I would love the opportunity to shoot these beautiful little birds.... I agree the comments above but I thinking if you removed some (just a little) of the cloud from below the beak the head may be a little more defined.

Excellent exposure, and PP in fairly tough light. Love the comp too, Rachel.

Darn that's a great colorful shot, such photogenic characters especially with a blue sky backdrop. I think I would agree about losing a bit of the cloud directly under the beak and more rock I think...but what a bright, cheery bit of eye candy !

    Rachel:

Such cute characters. Like the yoga pose, yes a little tight below.

Harsh light, but you did a good job, and got some fill off the rock onto the belly.

You can try a version with a crop from the top, a tight pano. It reduces the impression of him being crowded so close to the bottom of the frame. I think the pano plays well with his lines.

    Cheers

Sharp with good detail and exposure. Agree with your self critique.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. The bg is actually rocks and sky. Unfortunately, there wasn't a cloud to be seen during my 3 mornings there (would have helped a bit with the harsh light). Randy - I like your suggestion of a pano crop, it works well when I tried it as a screen crop.

    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,
Puffins are sooo cute! As you have mentioned, you are awfully tight on the bottom and it does hurt the image a bit.
My wish for this image is for more of a head turn towards you.

Hi Rachel, love the pose with the raised foot, and you have exposed the puffin nicely, especially on the blacks. The OOF rocks in the BG looks like clouds, so it breaks the sky. If anything, I would maybe try and lighten the eye.

Rachel - excellent exposure, pose and POV. I agree with the head turn comments and your own assessment. Still, nicely done on the exposure. TFS
