    Jack:

Lovely colors, well exposed, nice to see the juvi.

It appears that your point of focus was on the back or perch, as the head is a little soft. At that shutter speed, there could also be a bit of motion blur.

I think it is a very interesting perch with lots of detail, perhaps too much, as I find myself looking at all the little leaves 1st, then the bird.

    Cheers

Nice image Jack! I agree with Randys comments and suggestion. Here is an alternative vertical crop that eliminates some of the dominance of the perch.

Lovely perch and BG with excellent detail!

Would prefer a less head-on lookback pose.

Hi Jack - nice look back pose and I like what Jim has done with the vertical crop. Good points by Randy.

The perch is great and does not overpower for me.
The HA is not my fav, it seems a bit awkward.
I love Woodpeckers though and this species is pretty cool.

With this pose which is not my fondest, the vertical does work better. Agree the head is not tack sharp. Your set up is pretty special. I might thin out the green vegetation just a tad to the right top of the perch for your next captures.

I love the perch and BG, but I feel the comp would have been better had the head been angled parallel to the sensor rather than straight on.
