I found this caterpillar clinging to my pantleg after a walk in the woods. After pupating, it will become a Snowberry Clearwing Moth (Hermaris diffinis) - a type of sphinx moth that flies around flowers during the daytime and resembles a large bumble bee. Like hummingbirds, they feed on nectar while hovering. 5D II, 100 mm macro, 1/160, f/16, ISO 100, light box, 2 remotely fired flashes, hand held. All comments are welcome and appreciated.
I find the close-up detail fascinating. I discovered clearwing moths last summer while photographing butterflies in my yard.... The color rendition seems very good as well.
Hi Steve, I always wondered what the Clearwing Moths looked like in caterpillar form - thanks for sharing. wonderful detail and color on this - very well done!
