Default Tripod, head and equipment purchase

I called Art Morris a few days ago to ask some questions about the Gitzo 5540LS, Wimberley 200, blubb, plates etc. I got detailed knowledge, good advice and plenty of suggestions or alternate products. I am very excited to get my order by UPS on Monday. I had a wish list at B&H for 2 years. The guy's at B&H could not tell me specifics on the 3 different tripods I was interested in. They were pleasant, just did not know from experience. $1,850 is a chunk of change when you can't see touch and feel the merchandise. So I ordered from Art for one simple reason. Quality service, hands on experience from years of in the field use and competent advice without fluff. I still want the 500 prime and then my kit will be complete.

    Thanks for the service Art!

Well I got my goodies. It all looks good. I will be using it tomorrow at the lighthouse for the sunrise and perhaps some gulls. Thanks.

Congrats Grady, enjoy your new gear!!!

One important note with all the new GT Gitzos: you have to Silicon sealant/threadlock/glue the screw in rubber feet. Gitzo uses a coarse thread without any lock washed or thread locker so the feet fall out in a week or 2.
I used Black 3M silicon sealant since day one on all of my CF Gitzos and I havent lost one rubber foot yet!!!

I covered this in a newletter last year : http://www.aptats.com/NSL_1/NEWSLETTER_1.htm
