    Default Waterbuck Portrait-Masai Mara

Inspired by Morkel's high ISO image of a lion, I decided to post this shot. I thought my 7D isn't so bad after all!

Hi Sanjeev - while the noise looks well controlled, some of the whites are blown, particularly around the nose and there's a blue cast in other areas. As a 7D owner, I really think going to ISOs of 1600 or higher is really testing the limits of the camera and affects IQ.

    Rachel

Hi Sanjeev, Rachel raises some good points and having progressed her rapid learning curve with it, they have a lot of good grounding. The blue & magenta casts visible in the black areas in the nose, eyes and ears are easily fixed with some adjustments in selective colour or saturation. Also opening the shadow areas too, in the same location begins to bring through the hidden detail as the blacks are quite solid. Perhaps a slight off square cropping may offer anther option, as I feel there should be more space to the left, (if you have it) to emphasis the alert ear, WDYT? Added a little more canvas to the LHS to aid the example.

Also please not, the maximum height for portrait (vertical formats) is 800px not 1024px, thanks.

Thanks Don, Rachel and Steve. Sorry for the wrong dimensions. I shall keep the 800 Pix limit on the vertical images. I like your re post Steve, I am not sure how to remove the blue & magenta cast, do let me know so I can handle it better next time.
    Regards
    Sanjeev
