    Walking along ruby beach on the olympic peninsula in NW Washington state I turned around and caught the sun just coming up over the edge of the cliff behind me.

    Technical Bits:

    Nikon D80
    Nikon 24-85mm 1:3.5-4.4 (at 80mm)
    ISO 100 f/10 1/2500 sec
    spot metering mode, aperture priority

    I like this a lot Leroy. I like the blues, golds and browns of the light. The trees offer a very pleasing sillohoutte.

    Besides using the f/10 you did here, also try f/22 to get the star-burst affect. Not that might have been better because I like the rays just as they are here, just something to try in these types of situations.

    Good eyes Roman. I hadn't noticed the cross before. The "believe" title is a vague reference to the x-files (I want to believe) as I thought it kind of looked like a UFO landing in the fog at night. :)

    Great picture, I like it as presented here. I have no idea how to take a picture like this, but I am going to start practicing, what I like most is the sun rays.
