    Default Band-backed Wren

Not so many shots of these noisy, weird birds around.. Hard to capture as it tends to remain in very thick scrub where it feeds on invertebrates, insects and spiders
This one appeared to be collecting nest material atop a palm tree and gave me a few chances of at least part of it! I like the fronds acting like a drawn back curtain
Gone for a square crop as fair bit of obstruction around him. I love the spots and bands on these. btw listen to the row they make on the web, really something else; you will know they are around even if you dont see them. Most of these wrens , and there a quite a few species appear to have been photographed very little.

    From Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

Angle steep, through window in palm fronds, but in 3 months not see below 6m up!

Interesting and beautifully marked bird, unlike any Wren I've seen before, well done on what seems an elusive species

    Hi Richard,

Good to capture such an elusive species at all. Would have been nice to get the whole tail, of course, but that would be wishful thinking. I like the window effect.

Richard - nice to see an elusive bird, wish the head and tail weren't blocked but you did well under the circumstances.

    TFS,
    Rachel
