How patriotic on my part. I guess I could have posted a Canada Goose but this first year male American Redstart, photographed yesterday morning, is just a little bit cuter. Happy Canada Day to my fellow canadians!!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm,manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/7.1, ISO 400 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, perch toned down and saturated via burn and sponge tools. Audio.

Much better looking than a Canada goose. Great complimentary BG and sweet light make this a super shot.

Great pose, very fine details, good sharpness and excellent background. Overall maybe a bit too bright.

Hi Dan, love the inquisitive pose, and you have brought out the detail and colours nicely on this little fellow. Nice and sharp, I like the perch, and if anything, I would maybe move him to the left a touch more.

Happy Canada to you! Great little bird to celebrate with. I'd crop just a tad from the left and I think that his tail is showing under his left foot. I'd remove that.

I agree with Grace regarding the small bit of tail feather protruding below the branch..but this is very nice, light and composition is perfect
