    Default Cape Fox

    Attached Images Attached Images

Photographed this subadult Cape Fox in Kgalagadi TP in Dec 2005.The fox was part of a family that lived in a den close to the road on the Mata Mata side of the park.Quite funny to watch these guys.
In this image the fox was observing a raptor that was flying above.

    Canon EOS 1D II
    500 IS L + 1,4 TC
    Beanbag

    f 5,6 / 1/400sec / ISO 100

Cropped of bit from top and rhs. I have chosen this composition to give the subject the room to look at something imaginary ? Hope this works.

    Processed in PS CS5
    C&C most welcome.

    Hi Andreas, outstanding.

The colours, pose, lightening, in fact the whole image just works, excellent work, one of your best.

Lovely light, sighting and overall image Andreas! I have had bad luck with them on most of my trips...mostly because I haven't gone often when they are denning. Can you remember which side of the park this was? Auob or Nossob riverbeds?

Raptors often prey on their young, I have heard vivid accounts from other visitors of raptors swooping down and taking the kits...

I agree with the above comments. This is a gorgeous image. It also begs the question: What is cape fox looking at? TFS

Thank you guys for watching and the comments, appreciate them all.
Morkel - picture was taken around Dalkeith in Auob riverbed. There have been four young foxes in that family, two have had normal color the other two were colored very light almost greyish white. I make post later.
Andrew - there was a Tawny Eagle ( i think) flying for a short time over the scene.

Thanks again for watching . Cheers Andreas

Love everything about this one Andreas, especially the way the light falls on the Fox.

Very nice Andreas. Fox is nice and sharp with a pleasing diffused combo of light and colors.
