    Default Mockingbird on the Roof

    A rare species for NS, this was perched on the roof of our local community college recently. There's a nest in a nearby bush. Unfortunately the lighting was pretty harsh when I saw the bird.

    D7000, 300 f/4 AF-S, 1.7TC. ISO400, 1/1000, f/6.7.

    Moderate crop, sharpening, shadows/ highlights tool in LR4 and PSE9.

    That's what I like about this forum, birds I never see and/or only ever heard of in story tales or songs. A shame about the harsh light, but like the alert pose and fine detail...don't think I've ever seen a bird with curls before lol

    I like the tail up pose. Wish for better light and a natural perch, but sometimes you have to take what you can get with rare birds.

    For a rare bird sighting this will do, but man that harsh light just did not work in your favour! Looks to be oversharpened also. I bet many are monitoring the success of the nest!!
