    Default Blue Heron vs Mallard

I wish I was at my camera when this little drama unfolded. What you don't get to see is the Blue heron with one of the baby duck in its beak. This photo was taken after the mama duck was successful in getting the heron to drop the duckling that it was intending on snacking on. The heron seemed to be very intent on having some duck for dinner that day, which was made apparent by several other attempts at getting to the ducklings.

    Camera Canon 7D
    Exposure 1/4000 sec
    Aperture f/5.6
    Focal Length 400 mm
    ISO Speed 400

    Jason:

Glad the duckling got away, points to mom for strong defense of her kids.

In regards to the image, because the reflections are fairly weak, you might consider a crop up from the bottom to eliminate most if not all of them so as to concentrate our attention on the action in the scene.

Well exposed. Strong sense of action based on poses, flying water, etc.

    Look forward to more images

    Cheers

Agree with randy on the reflection. Still great action even if a few minutes late.
