Crescent Honeyeater/male.....found only around the southern, and south eastern edges of the Australian mainland, reasonably common here in my area, but rarer elsewhere in the south.
Taken from my rough n' ready bird hide made of sticks not far from home in the Onkaparinga National Park. Hide is alongside a small pool of seasonal water with a few sticks placed within for perches, works well but only a small window of opportunity for good light as the sun moves overhead. I used flash on this one and pleased with the results, but I rarely use flash, preferring natural light if I can get it. I rather liked this particualr front on image as it clearly shows the crescent markings that gives the bird it's name
Extremely beautiful image. Great composition with nice exposure and sharpness. Very nice pose and ,bg and lights.Love the pose and great details in blacks, whites and grey on the bird.
Beautiful image Phil! Nice sharpness and really like the water drops on the chest. Good job with the fill flash and exposure overall, very nice. BG is clean and colors look good with the bird. Unique markings and coloration. I like the red eye! Never seen this bird before. Thanks for sharing!
Sharp, with nice details, pose and perfect DOF. Like the perch and the bg too.
Lucky you, to have quick access to a national park - your hide sounds like a great place for photography.
