    While I was not happy with the high angle , I liked the pose which almost suggested that it was an extension of the stump it was perched on . This was the lowest angle I could manage by getting our safari jeep to back off , and ensuring this OHB did not fly away .

    As you said, interesting pose, sharp,well exposed. I would soften or remove the trunk in upper left corner.

    The bright highlighted areas in the BG are a bit distracting as well, and you might be able to run a luminosity layer on them and tone them down a bit more.

    IQ on the bird looks great, and like you I like how it appears to be an extention to the perch. Background is not ideal, but it is what you had before you. Some tweaking, especially to the brighter areas, may help.
