This one is from a local National Park area - the King Gillette Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains. Late afternoon light, this is a juvenile bird, just born a few weeks ago. I love how the raptors come out of the nest with fully functional attitudes. King of the sky and I know it!

    Kerry,

Greetings. I can almost hear the call ... I like the wing position, if only the light was just a bit further back over your shoulder... TFS.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Kerry, love the open mouth and wing position. This is an adult bird, notice the red tail and dark eyes.

Kerry....This is indeed a fine image of a hawk! I am loving the pose and the afternoon light. I wish there were more clouds in the sky but we can always have everything we want!.

Lovely wing position and love wide beak vocalizing, looks to me like the light is very good in the eye , great in flight shot, bit is there a slight magenta cast to it....may be just my monitor though

Thanks for comments all! Roy, when I first read your post I thought "wait a minute, I saw this one come out of the nest..." However, you are right about the markings and when I went back to the series I remembered that there were two birds flying around this tree and I must have gotten switched up! I will have to go back and find the juvi as it was really pretty too.
