Default Red knot in Mussel Bed

    Attached Images Attached Images

Finally getting around to working on some of the images I shot this spring when a nice group of red knots stopped on our South shore to refuel on Horseshoe crab eggs before continuing northward. Challenging to create decent images on the sand flat that they loved as it was cluttered with broken shells and other junk. But my rule with red knots is to not make any move what-so-ever to distrurb their critical eating, so I learn to be happy with what they give me.

    Thanks for looking.

Grace this is stunning capture..Perfect head angle, pose and details...I am with you on not disturbing these birds and how difficult it is to get low and shoot with too many shells on beach.

BTW Thanks for your comments on my Piping Plover Chick Image

    Grace:

Lovely, colors, exposure, angle, light. With interesting beach details telling the story.

    Cheers

Very nice - love the low angle and colours - the light is nice and soft and the detail in the plumage is fantastic. I may have cropped differently with a bit more foreground showing but lovley as presented. TFS.

Beautiful capture Grace loved the light, sharpness, low angle...wish feet were visible but once you get that low it becomes difficult to avoid this on such beach.

Hi Grace getting down and wet if you did has paid off nicely here - great perspective. Love the perfect pose and HA, and the the colours on this species are really nice. The Red Knot is really sharp, and the 'clutter' of shells adds interest.

Love the environment on this one, Grace, especially the black pebbles and how they match the beak and the black specks on the bird.

    Hi Grace,
this is really nice. I especially like the round shells or pebbles littering the ground.
Perfect HA and the HA police are swooning...!!
I have never seen a red knot IRL but seeing how beautiful they are as you have portrayed makes me anxious to see my first!
