Default A babe among the verdant cozies

Hello! It's my pleasure to share this picture with you which you might possibly enjoy? I'll certainly be looking for some comments and suggestions here. I've given the thing a slight crop for composition...this is about 87% of the original capture. Speaking of composition: that's my main reason for posting this pic! As always I'll welcome your thoughts on that and other matters? This pleasant babe was captured with the Canon 7D and 70-300L at 300mm. iso400, 1/400, f5.6. Please do share your thoughts with me! Let us learn together!

Love the framing elements of the branches. Would take some off the right side and move the subject out of center. Probably some off the bottom as well. Nice details and good BG.

Hey Jack, this image has a certain sweetness to it, a cute factor. Very spring feel to it too. I like the pale lime greens and yellows. Compositionally I have two issues (of course, both being IMO). First is that small-in-the-frame subjects almost always look better tucked closer into a corner of the frame, second is that the large OOF area obstructing the less OOF tree at left is problematic for me. Cropping as follows addresses both these issues. BTW, this looks like a young fledgling...but which species?

OK, upon review of my own version here is another tweak. What did I do differently, and why did I do it?

Very nice image, for all the reasons that Daniel already indicated. The second repost of Daniels works the best imo, particularly because he ammended his crop to include the whole sprig of leaves above the fledgling's head, with a nice bit of space above that. I believe this is a juvenile starling, but welcome other ideas....

Very good Shawn, that is exactly the reason for my re-repost

Leave the computer for a couple of days and I come back to find two reposts and an object lesson! Huzzah, Daniel, and many thanks. To my mind this is a starling babe and I quite like your second crop. Thanks for taking the time; it's very much appreciated by y.t., and you've done some nice work, that's for sure. I'll be taking your suggestions to heart, believe it! Thanks much, folks...
