    Default Boucard's Wren

Endemic to Mexico. I had a very nice day with these birds during the short time the rain stopped here in Oaxaca, Mexico. I found a family playing around the cactus. Hope you like it.

The comp and cactus, Is very nice. I love the lines made by the cactus and the plant itself.
Nice exposure, since the bird is looking up, it would be a plus if it was singing.
    Very nice and different.

Very nice. I like the vertical comp. I do wish for a bit more of a direct gaze. I would add a 10% more canvas up top and remove 10% from the bottom. By doing this , the bird has more room to look into and you would still retain some of the lovely cactus perch but it wouldn't be as overwhelming.
Great BG.I am glad you kept the spider webs on the right of the cactus.
    Nice soft diffuse light.

    Lorant:

I was struck by the repeating shapes, body of bird, and shape of cactus ( as Dan mentioned about lines)

For that effect to work, I would probably not crop from below, but would add a bit of canvas above, as Gail mentioned.

    Nice BG.

    Cheers

Looks similar to the "Cactus Wren" we find in South Texas, Arizona...
Love the cactus perch. I like the pose. Good to see those eyes. I think I like Gail's suggestion for the crop.

In any case, I like the shot (of what appears to be one of my favorite wrens).

Thank you guys for the comments and suggestions. I see what you mean about the crop and I agree it would work well. I edited it quickly last night after getting back from the banding/birding session. There will be more photos to come about this endemic wren from Mexico.

Neat photo, and ditto the suggestions. Maybe its just me, but I'd make the cactus' centre line a perfectly level one...
