I went to my local pond in Pretoria on saturday. It was early morning and the sun was in and out between the clouds. There was one moment when the light looked so good, and I managed to time this wing flap from a Yellow - billed Duck. As I dont capture many of these type of shots, I was happy with the result.

You caught the moment in the sweet light, Stu. I like the feather detail and especially the iridescence of the speculum.

    Stuart:

Perfect wing extension with slight angle towards us to show some of the back wing, sweet light, water color, and that bright yellow bill. That must be a challenge to expose for with the darker plumage of the bird.

    Congrats!

Stuart- nice light, tones and wing position all combine for a very pleasing image. Well done.

Great timing Stuart, at 1/800 sec the wings are tack sharp. Love the light, colours and eye contact.

Perfect pose, awesome details. Light looks great too. Had it been possible an even lower angle would have been super but certainly good as is. The bill looks aglow!!

Thanks Dan. This was the lowest I could go at this location - lower than the guys with the larger lenses.

Thanks a stack for all the feedback and comments everyone.
