    Default Dragonfly

One of these days I really need to start learning the various dragonfly species ...

Hi Ian, really like the composition on this with the diagonal reed and dragonfly on top. There is alot of noise in this image which really hurts IQ. Was the crop large?

Hi Ian, I wish this was tighter. I also think there is a lot of noise. I like the diagonal composition. Can't help with the species.

Ian I think there is a little something wrong with the image. Not sure if the resizing algorithm is ideal?? The image is a little noisy, I suspect it is sharp but it looks soft. Is this a full size image?

Ian, I agree with the previous responses; while the diagonal composition is strong, the IQ is adversely affected by the presence of noise and the apparent lack of sharpness...maybe too much of a crop?

Given your location, this might be a Mexican Amberwing. Odonatacentral.com is an excellent source of information on dragonflies and damselflies.

Hi Ian. I like the comp (I might take a little off the left), lighting, and pose. But, like the others, I think the very noticeable noise (I wouldn't expect this much at ISO 400) is really detracting from your otherwise strong image.
