    Ian,

    Really like this one, I would only crop from the bottom and remove the dark triangle created by the base of the pedestal. Excellent aperture selection the simplicity of this image is fantastic - really strong picture love the pose and white perch - thanks for sharing.

    Indeed the repost looks better. I normally am not a fan of "artificial" perches but in the repost I actually like it. Good pose, angle and exposure. The image looks a bit oversharpened here.

    Hi Ian, the repost looks better! I would like to see a little less overall level in the image, as it seems pretty bright to me. It has the look of low-detail high-sharpening. I have found that 1/1000 sec is often not fast enough for the 400mm f/5.6 and its lack of IS.

    HI Ian....I like your repost with its crop that has the curve of the perch leading you to the bird. The sharpness does look a bit odd as Kerry was saying but what I think you might consider is using a exposure gradient on the bg so It does not look quite so flat

    Yes,..repost looks better the triangle was a bit distracting - nice post.
