I went camping last weekend and ended up under this giant oak. There were acorn woodpeckers and European starlings nesting inside the large branches. I thought it would be fun to get the 16-35mm and get down at the bottom of the tree and look up. You can get a lot of tree in an image at 16mm! The starburst is not a filter, it was in the capture.
Lots of Topaz filters - DeNoise, Adjust, Clean, and a couple of Nik filters like Tonal Contrast and Brilliance/Warmth. Lots of lost detail with the conversion for web, only get 50% quality. :e3

Kerry, I love the perspective and the "wow" colors. It looks like a tree you could camp under for a long time:S3:

Love the contrast of the powerful tree soaring upward against the solar "star" shining down.

Very cool perspective, Kerry...the almost serpentine curves in the tree limbs, combined with the deep texture and color, make the image for me. The effect on the leaves is beautiful; f it were mine, I might tone down the blues just a bit so that the eye isn't draw to them, but that's a matter of personal taste. Love the placement and capture of the starburst; nicely done!

That magnificent star-burst pulls together all the strong graphic lines of the tree, bark and limbs. The bark is wonderful and must be amazing without web compression. I think John has a good suggestion on toning down the blues a bit so they don't compete.
