This is a really special image, the side light works beautifully in this story....Lovely stuff Ken!
Ken - I agree with Dumay. Nice sense of intimacy, side lighting works well. One of your best recent images.

Excellent timing Ken. Very nice comp and like the interaction.
Ken ,
love the whole image as presented. So no technical jargon needed:w3.
Cheers Andreas
Awesome...that is really a "fresh" one - I've yet to see one this young in the wild. Gotta love the Addo open spaces (in places, hate the Spekboom thickets!) :bg3:
This is gorgeous image Ken , loved every pixel of it

Awesome and very sweet image, Ken.
5 stars from me.
Thanks everybody for your kind comments, they are much appreciated.
It was a great sighting for us we spotted the herd arriving from quite a distance and spotted the youngster tottering around (Canon Binoculars).
So we just waited for them to get nearer around 2 hours, so right place, right time. patience and light were the main contributors to this shot.
WOW! Your patience definitely paid off. It is so hard to get a nice clear view of a baby and you nailed it.

Super image Ken, the little guy is so cute, love his pose, sharpness of both mother and baby.
Now this is a mighty fine image of momma and calf. Very nice Ken!
PATIENCE - what an important word/concept in photography (and lots of other pursuits too!). Wonderful image; I'll get down there someday!
