The original was created at Hercules Bay, South Georgia on my Southern Oceans voyage with Cheeseman's Ecology Safaris. Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS with the 2X III TCand the EOS-1D MIV.
Fracted with a tweaked Glow 100. Original eye revealed as taught to me by Denise Ippolito. Thanks Lady D.

Artie, this one is spectacular! Loved the base composition. The combination of fracted red bill with yellow crest really makes this stand out... certainly one of your best!
Art, I like the fract effect, especially the yellow. Nice revealed eye. The subject and original capture are awesome.
I agree that this is an extaordinary image (as always) and I too like the revealed eye. I'm curious though as to how it would present if the eye were lightened just a touch. Would it detract from that glorious yellow?

Good point. I thought about lightening the eye which is very dark in nature. I did open up the iris considerably in the original....Quote:

Very cool OOTB composition, Artie. Love the brilliant color fract treatment against the black BG and diagonal lines. Nancy's repost is a nice option too.
Very nice Arthur, I love the effect on the yellow crest the best. Wonderful work. While at the Toronto Zoo last week I was able to photograph lots of endangered African Penguins and plan on fracting many of them. This image gives me lots of inspiration to do so. :S3:
