Just couldn't resist tinkering with this some more. Almost as engaging as a spirograph. :w3
This started as a Nautilus slice on a light box. Added some more nautilus parts, radial composites and practiced using various masks to cube the BG.
I am wondering about the square comp ... tried to shifted the subject off-center a bit.
I think I will revisit this later and do a more classic (golden spiral) comp. May require some free transforming to get that right.
In any case it was a fun project.
All C&C welcome. :S3:
PS - How many repeats of the Nautilus slice can you find?

I love the block effect & colors in this! The curves of the Nautilus play beautifully against the straight lines & mottled, cracked effect of the bkgd. This would make a beautiful print on something organic like canvas. I see over 50 repeats.

Steve, I love the square comp, the design, the colors, (I think there are 51 also). This would make a great cover for a Dan Brown novel.:S3:

Steve, this is fantastic and a wonderful example of creativity and skill coming together. Love everything about it! Since you said "repeats" and not "instances", I'm going with 50... :c3:

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and slice guesses.
Now I need to disclose the true total as in accordance with the "World Wide OCD Consortium"...
My original Nautilus eggs post (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...read.php/97240) had 49 occurrences (thanks Kerry :w3) - 16 for each egg X 3 plus the main slice.
In this post I added; one very small golden slice dead center of the main slice (see below) ; a large grayish slice ; and one in the top right corner that Paul and some of you saw.
That make an official total of 52 occurrences or 51 repeats of the original... :Whoa!:
In the custom of my Swedish ancestors (the true originators of "Where's Waldo")... I declare all guessers as winners!! :5
