8 fine tundra swans circling the waterways

Greetings folks! I took this picture about a week ago at a southern Ontario marina where many trumpeter swans spend their winter. I was standing on the beach among them, and a juvenile king eider duck was floating around the waterways alongside some mallards and coots. Approximately 50 tundra swans were much farther out in the water, and at one point a number of them lifted off into the air. Here's a shot of 8 of them, anyhow. As far as post-processing work goes: I cropped the picture (what you see here is roughly 50% of the original) and played a little with the contrast and saturation...it's not too far off from the original, but I suppose I like the look of this one. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the topmost bird? Should I serve him an eviction notice? Anyhow, I'll welcome your thoughts and opinions on this matter and other matters too...

Very nice composition, Jack. I like the nice clean image and you got good details even with 50% crop. I would vote for the eviction. If it were mine, I would also crop from the top and add bit of canvas on the bottom and right just to give them a bit more space to fly to/or land :S3:

I'm inclined to agree with you, particularly RE the addition of canvas on the bottom and right...will do that...still undecided RE eviction...I too was impressed with the IQ for a 50% crop...the 200mm f2.8 is a great little lens, lightweight...not as nice IQ as the Nikon 180mm f2.8 but now I'm babbling...nobody cares...many thanks for the insightful comments!

The more I look at this, the more I agree with Indranil: the topmost bird must go, then crop a slice from the top and extend the bottom. Many thanks...
