Hi This is the Godwit that prefers fresh water habitat and is less common than the Bar tailed which likes Ocean side. 60% of original, cropped. Interest here because these are changing into Summer plumage! 7D 100-400@400 Tripod, 1/640 ISO 640 Ev +1.66 , shot in overcast but bright weather with max light straight into lens:e3

I really like the pose and habitat as well as nice low angle. I could see taking a bit off bottom for more of a pano crop. I am not sure what to think about the three bg birds. Interested to see what others have to say.

Hi Dave
pano crop worth trying for sure
ah yes those naughty BG birds; actually I have a version where they are cough, removed but I actually prefer them; I find it too blank a scene with them gone, more "social" with them there if you see what I mean
recently I have tried to work on composition more, and not on close/tight subjects.
thank you for your critique; the coming days should be fun here as Redshanks, Sandpipers and Avocets etc increase in number

Great to see some coloured up Godwits!! I wonder if I saw this bird in our(southern hemisphere) summer. Certainly didn't look like this if I did. :w3
