After dropping my daughter off at her junior kindergarten class today, I drove down to Toronto to see what waterfowl were hanging around at Humber Bay Park. Not much other than Mallards and a lot of Gadwalls. Spent most of my time with the Gadwalls during a real mixed bag of weather, from full sun to snow squalls. Used Fractalius for this image of a Gadwall drake preening.
Nice, delicate fract work as usual, Andrew! Love the base image as well. I might not fract the bg, just smooth it (if it were mine).

Very, very, nice composition, Andrew! Love the preening pose you captured, and great touch with fract treatment to bring out the beautiful, fine detail, texture, and colors.

Andrew,
Greetings. When I saw the thumbnail of this I thought you had put a white chop in the upper left portion of the image. Interesting the impact of the light reflections there. The overall graphic look is very effective (but I pixel peep too much for the bg not to look like noise).
Cheers,
-Michael-

Very nice base image, Gadwalls have that lovely chest pattern and they generally aren't that skittish.
I like the fract work and composition...well done Andrew....did you get to Bronte to see the King Eider?

Hi Andrew, really nice work with the fract filter. I am also one who likes to remove the effect from the bg. Excellent job on the original capture and the fract treatment is very well done.

Andrew, This one is too, too sweet. Love both the original and the Fract. The chestnut-red wing coverts are to die for :).
