I was out shooting flowers last spring when this huge weather front moved in right over top of me. I was up high enough that I could get a really nice image out of the clouds as they shot past me. This is the black and white conversion of that image.
I used Nik's Color Efex for the conversion and then added a bit of surface blur to soften the clouds a bit. Last thing was a bit of dodging and burning.

Julie, I like the layered look to the sky. It reminds me of mountains. I might take a sliver off the top if it were mine. I think the softness you added makes the clouds look like they sweep across the sky.

Julie, this is wonderful! I like the layers of cloud and the formation. The shades makes it so much more interesting. Beautifully processed.

Sweet image. Don't think it would work in color... You achieved really nice tonality. Not that easy in digital. Have you made a print of this image? I am still having difficulties getting good B&W prints from my inkjet printers...

Beautiful, Jules, love the lines and tone variation to the clouds, your B&W conversion works really well. Nice touch with blur to give it that softness.
